What is management reporting for a Turkish subsidiary?
Management reporting is the monthly financial pack a foreign parent uses to run its Turkish entity — profit and loss, balance sheet, cash position and KPIs — presented in the group’s format and language rather than as raw Turkish statutory records. It is reconciled to the statutory books but built for decisions: it tells the board how the entity is performing, not just what was filed with the tax office.
Statutory books vs management reporting: what is the difference?
Turkey requires every company to keep statutory books under the Tax Procedure Law and Commercial Code, in Turkish and in TRY. That is a compliance output, built for the tax office. A parent company’s management reporting is a different output built for decisions — mapped to the group chart of accounts, in the group’s language and currency, with the KPIs and comparatives the board actually reviews. A local bookkeeper who only produces the first will never hand you the second. We produce both and reconcile them.
What is in your monthly pack
- Profit & loss in your group format, with month, year-to-date and budget comparatives
- Balance sheet and net cash / working-capital position
- Cash movement and short-term cash outlook
- The KPIs your board tracks (revenue by line, margin, headcount cost, etc.)
- Short variance commentary — what moved and why
- Reconciliation note tying the pack back to the Turkish statutory books
How we deliver it
- Map once. We build a chart of accounts mapped to your group template so every month is consistent.
- Close monthly. We complete the statutory close, then produce the management pack from the same numbers.
- Deliver on a fixed date. Your HQ receives the pack on an agreed working day each month.
- Review together. We are available in English to walk your team or auditors through anything in it.
What if my HQ reports under IFRS?
Can you give me IFRS-style figures from a Turkish entity? Yes. Turkish statutory accounts differ from IFRS in areas such as inflation accounting, provisions and leases. Where your group consolidates under IFRS, we provide the reconciling adjustments and a pack your group auditors can work from.
What if my board needs figures in EUR or USD? We report in TRY and translate to your reporting currency on the basis your group uses, so the Turkish entity drops straight into consolidation.
Worked example: the entity nobody could read
The situation. A European group’s Turkish subsidiary sent head office only a Turkish trial balance each quarter. The CFO could not see margin or cash without re-keying it.
The obvious answer. “Ask the accountant to send it in English.” Translating a statutory trial balance still does not produce a group-format P&L.
Why it failed. The gap was structural: no mapping between Turkish accounts and the group template, so any “report” was a manual re-build each time.
What we did. We mapped the chart of accounts to the group template once, then delivered a monthly pack in the group’s format and currency — turning a quarterly guessing game into a fixed monthly close the board could actually use.
What does it cost?
Management reporting is usually a fixed monthly fee on top of accounting, priced on the complexity of your pack: number of entities, KPIs, reporting currency, IFRS adjustments and how fast your HQ needs it after month-end. We quote it after the discovery call. See what accounting in Turkey costs →
